For the two public schools this celebration is the grand finale to a year of weekly Christian Special Religious Education lessons, or scripture lessons.
Fourteen volunteers, from various Christian Churches, head into local schools to teach Scripture each week.
It’s a big commitment, but very rewarding, Schools SRE coordinator Joy Brown said. Some of the volunteers have been teaching scripture in schools for more than 30 years.
Mrs Brown said they were excited that St. Laurence’s Primary School was able to join the group for the end-of-year event.
The Scripture celebration was split into two sessions of 45 mins each, Kindergarten to Year 2 and Years 3 to 6.
Mrs Brown said they were grateful to Forbes Shire Council for donating the use of the Forbes Town Hall this year and in previous years.
The guest presenter this year was Reverend Andrew Parkinson, the Scripture Union Regional Co-ordinator for Central and Far West New South Wales.
The children were treated to a vibrant program including live guitar Christmas music and Christmas video clips with opportunities for participation.
The Forbes Christian SRE team would like to take this opportunity to wish the community a happy and safe Christmas.
