The Forbes Shire Citizen and Young Citizen of the Year will be presented at the 2018 Australia Day celebrations.
Mayor Graeme Miller said he encouraged residents to nominate a community member who deserves to be recognised as the Forbes Shire Citizen or Young Citizen of the Year.
“If you know someone who has really made a positive difference in our community or has shown an outstanding achievement in academic or sporting fields, make sure you nominate them for the prestigious awards,” Mayor Miller said.

There’s always plenty on in Forbes on Australia Day, starting with the Rotary breakfast down by Lake Forbes and continuing with the Diggers Swim at the pool.
The annual Tommy Drane Memorial Trophy day is to encourage everyone – adults and juniors – to come down for a swim.
The swim is a little different to a regular meet: swimmers nominate a time and are placed in a handicap race with staggered starts.
The aim is to swim closest to your nominated time, there are junior trophies to be won as well as the coveted Tommy Drane cup.
Community celebrations including entertainment, amusements and the awarding of the Council’s honours are through the afternoon and evening with a new location flagged for this year in Lions Park.
The night always finishes with a spectacular fireworks display.
