Jack started umpiring when he was in year 7, and played in the mixed night competitions with his friends.
Three of the girls in the team gained their National C umpires badge during that year, and then wanted a break from umpiring on their duty night competition games, so they started to teach a young boy named Jack who was interested in learning to umpire, to take on their duty.
The rest is history.
Jack was immediately brought into the FNA Umpire Development program, where he was coached by local National badged umpires, and over the years, he gained his bronze, silver and gold certificates.
During the spring night competition last year, Jack was told to “get his butt into gear and gain his National C Umpires badge. It was up to him”
At the beginning of 2017, and going into year 12, Jack achieved his National C, and became only the second male in the history of the FNA to gain his National Umpire badge.
The news spread world-wide, and Jack’s achievement was reported on the International Federation of Umpires Facebook.
Jack was famous, although we couldn’t let him get a “swelled head” over his achievement.
So, we gave him his next goal, and he was selected to umpire at the West/Central West Regional League, where he was coached by umpires from Netball NSW.
Orange NA tried to take him for their competitions, but we told them he belonged to the Forbes Netball Association, and they weren’t getting him.
He attended the West/Central West NetEd workshops in Orange in conjunction with Regional League, where he was again coached by representatives from NNSW umpires panel.
Jack then nominated for umpiring at the NNSW State Championship, and NNSW State Age Championship during the year, and has gained a huge amount of knowledge, experience and improvement, where he was again coached.
Jack has made huge improvements in all areas of his umpiring, and has not sat back and been happy to just gain his National C.
He has improved and worked hard in all areas, and can now work toward his National B.
Jack is a pleasure to have around, where he is willing to help with any umpiring duties needed.
Congratulations Jack!
