Sam said he was friends with Danielle and decided to raise some awareness for the Leukaemia Foundation by donating his hair and raising money for Danielle’s family.

“While it can’t ease the family’s sorrow it can help in a small way financially help her family and may comfort them to know how much the Forbes community supports them,” Sam said.

A total of $1520 was raised for the Leukaemia Foundation through an auction. One of the hotly contested items for auction was the honour of shaving Sam’s head.

A Go Fund Me campaign was started by Sam as part of his shave to support the Mason family. This campaign has raised more than $7000 and donations can still be made until December 22 at https://www.gofundme.com/help-support-danielles-family
