The school was also celebrating having a student in the NSW Merit List of All Rounders and another five in the Distinguished Achievers List.
Baedon Isbester was named the school’s dux and made it onto the NSW Merit List of All Rounders.
He received Band 6 – or top 90th percentile band – results in five of his subjects.
Baedon is hoping to complete a double degree in engineering at the University of Newcastle in 2018.
Forbes High student Timothy Dukes, who studied Metal and Engineering with Forbes TAFE, placed first in NSW in the exam.
TAFE NSW Engineering Teacher John Witty said this course contributes to Timothy’s HSC and ATAR, as well as gaining a Certificate I in Engineering through TAFE.
Mr Witty said this course has given Timothy many practical skills which can be used in the engineering industry and the understanding of the theory behind it.
“Taking out the top spot for the HSC Metals and Engineering exam is a credit to him and reflects the dedication, effort and hard work that he puts in,” Mr Witty said.
A few of the students from Forbes High came down to the Advocate’s office to share their plans.
Maddison Cowan – who also achieved Band 6 results in two of her subjects – has been accepted into the University of Canberra to study radiology.
Isobelle Herbert has been extended a conditional offer to study Law at the University of Wollongong.
Nic Mulligan is also heading to the south coast to study a Bachelor of Psychology at the University of Wollongong.
The school was celebrating many students’ excellent results, with 5 Band 6s (90% and above) and 13 Band 5s (80% and above).
Relieving Principal Jason Nottingham said, “It is lovely to see our students succeed and achieve their HSC.
“Our students have worked very hard, not just over the last 12 months but throughout their entire schooling journey.”
Mr Nottingham said being part of their secondary schooling journey and seeing them successfully complete it was very rewarding.
Year 12 Advisor Mr Byrnes said “Our year 12 students have demonstrated a strong commitment to their learning in the past 12 months, and all of the staff at Forbes High School are very proud of what they have achieved.”
The Forbes High School community wishes all of their Year 12 students the very best in their future endeavours and hope they continue on a lifelong path of learning.
