Police will be conducting breath tests on the water and will be on the look out for any boat safety issues, as families and New Year’s Eve revellers gather at the dam for the festive season.
Meanwhile, Operation Safe Arrival began at 12.01am on Friday, December 15.
More police are now patrolling the region’s roads till January.
The main focus of police attention is drink driving, speeding and other safety offences.
Police are reminding motorists to adhere to traffic rules and not drive while they’re fatigued or under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
