Record crowds are expected for the 2018 Parkes Elvis Festival, celebrating 50 years of the ’68 Comeback Special.
With hundreds of Elvis fans staying in Forbes and taking advantage of frequent bus services to Parkes, Forbes is hosting breakfast for Elvis fans this Saturday morning.
Fans will be delivered to Parkes in time for the parade.
There’ll be tables and chairs in Templar Street (which will be closed to traffic) and live entertainment from well-respected tribute artist Anthony Petrucci.
And for the competitive at heart, there are games to put your knowledge of Elvis tunes to the test.
Food will be available from local cafes and some of the shops in the town centre will be opening early to give shoppers a chance to browse before the heat of the day.
Parking is available in Lachlan and Lawler streets, with a shuttle bus taking festival-goers on to Parkes in time for the street parade.
The shuttle bus will be picking people up from their accommodation in Forbes from 7.20am and transporting them to the breakfast.
The bus to Parkes for the street parade will depart from bus stop shelter outside Target (Webb St) at 9am.
The festival features a jam-packed five-day program of events, including four days of free Cooke Park main stage entertainment, look-a-like contests, Tribute to Elvis competitions, displays of Elvis artefacts at Greg Page’s The Kings Castle Elvis Exhibit, the Gospel Service, the Cars of the Era show and more than 100 other unique Elvis-themed events.
