CentaCare Forbes will be running another community event at the Jenny Murphy Park.

The movie night in November was a great success and they’re now planning a family event for Tuesday, January 16 at the same location.

The fun will begin at 6pm and finish about 8pm with a giant slip and slide and games for all the family to join in.

A free barbecue will be running and there will be some other surprises for the kids as well.

The Centacare team said the movie night event in November was a great success, with community members watching Despicable me-3 on the giant screen and enjoying a barbecue, fairy floss and popcorn.

The team at CentaCare would like to thank everyone who attended this event.

CentaCare tried to organise Santa to attend before Christmas but unfortunately the weather was not kind and the visit was cancelled.

CentaCare is committed to getting some activities happening in the park on a regular basis.

Family workers are hoping to start a regular playgroup in the park for mums, dads and the younger kids who are not yet at school. We know that children blossom with the support of their parents at all levels and ages, playgroups are a great place to support parent-child relationships.

Centacare also plans to continue to run more movie events throughout the year.

“It was awesome to see so many families sitting around together watching the movie and mingling as a community and enjoying each other’s company at the last movie event,” said Men and Family Worker, Michael Browne.

There were so many positive responses from community members after the last event stating that they were happy to assist where possible.

We invite community members with an interest in starting a focus group regarding getting things happening in the Forbes North area to put their name down on Tuesday night.

“We have some beautiful parks in Forbes that don’t seem to be getting utilised to their full potential, and that’s a real shame”, Mr. Browne said.

So come down to the Jenny Murphy Park on Tuesday the 16th at 6pm, bring a chair or rug, play some games, have a feed and enjoy the evening with some CentaCare staff and your community.
