The Advocate spoke to Mrs Shaw about being nominated to carry the Queen’s baton in the relay.
Mrs Shaw said it was an honour to be nominated to carry the Queen’s baton and that it should be a fun experience.
“It’s fabulous to be part of the Forbes community and to represent them,” Mrs Shaw said.
Nominated by the Women in Super for her work for the Mother’s Day Classic, Mrs Shaw has been involved with breast cancer since working as a women’s health nurse.
Along with Denise Jelbart, she helped to initiate the Mothers Day Walk in Forbes to raise money for breast cancer research.
Mrs Shaw also helped start the Forbes Breast Cancer Support Group in 1992 to support people affected by breast cancer.
The baton will pass through Forbes on January 29.
