Local Robin Lyell is one of 14 Forbes people chosen to carry the Queen’s baton through town on its journey to the Gold Coast for the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

The Advocate spoke to Mrs Lyell about being nominated to carry the Queen’s baton in the relay.
Mrs Lyell said she is looking forward to being a baton bearer in the Commonwealth Games.
“It’s exciting to be chosen,” she said.
Mrs Lyell is a long-time supporter of sports in Forbes, being heavily involved in tennis and golf within the community.
For the last 25 years Mrs Lyell has helped to run junior tennis competitions, she has more recently been involved in running a tennis night competition.
Mrs Lyell said she would like to thank the people who nominated her to become a baton bearer.
The Queen’s baton will pass through Forbes on January 29, with community celebrations at Stephen Field as detailed in Friday’s Advocate or on our website.
