The picnic day was held in November, with more than 60 council staff attending. It’s open to members of all unions associated with local government right across the council workforce.
Thanks to the support of sponsors, there’s a raffle on the day with all proceeds going to a local cause – either a community group or service that assists Forbes.
Over the years they have donated to Legacy, the Concord Burns unit, Movember, Angel Flight, CareFlight, CareWest and more.
This year the proceeds have been donated to the Forbes Men’s Shed.
Men’s Shed president Norm Haley said the funds would go toward electrical appliances for the kitchen in the new facility they are working towards building.
Mr Haley thanked the unions for the donation on behalf of the men’s shed.
“We really appreciate their donation and would like to thank them sincerely,” he said.
