“That's a first for me, winning over 12 holes,” after being declared the winner of the Forbes/Parkes veteran's mid week golfing competition with a score of 27 points.
Mr Parker did have to wait until the end with runner-up and fellow club member Garry Collits also on the same score.
Forbes dominated the trophy table with Lynnie Roberts taking home the Encouragement Award scoring 13 points. He did have plenty of company with more than usual low scores, perhaps due to the recent spell of heat.
All nearest the pins went to Forbes players. Ninth A grade Alf Davies, B grade Rod Besgrove, 18th A grade Tony Cogswell, B grade Tom Edols.
With 36 players, ball sweep went down to 23 points. 25 Frank Hanns (F), Dale Stait (P), John Pearce (P), Richard Hamilton (P), 24 Rod Besgrove (F), Greg Webb (F), Lyndon Byrne (F), Dub Rodgers (P), Rod Luyt (P), 23 Allan Rees (F), Laurie Wakefield (P), Tom Edols (F).
In the Mick Miller Shield, Forbes 149 points, Parkes 146.
Thursday will see Lachlan Valley veteran golfers head to Condobolin for their 18 hole competition and what is rated the 'best feed' in sporting circles. Nominations from 9.30am for a 10am tee off.
Two Barry's headed the scoring in last week's Tuesday golf with B Toole taking home the cash scoring 35 points for the 12 hole comp from B.Parker who registered 33 points.
Last week there were 25 players out enjoying a casual hit in the best of company, and as with each week everyone is invited to play where more information can be obtained from organisers Geoff Coles and Geoff Drane.
Ball toss today at 9am for playing partners. Get moving, hope to see you there.
