We are doing our very best to find a temporary solution to the brick wall construction problem and so is the Council.
Of course we all recognise that bricks falling in water on top of pool users would not be a good look! and as our Chairperson David Hodder has said "the safety of our users is the most important thing."
Well our pool was built over 50 years ago with the great and generous support of the Forbes community and over all these years with the diligent hard work of Mr Ian McCallum and John Smith.
Because of their frugal management we have got some money saved up.
The pool is very well used by people from Forbes, Parkes, Condobolin, Eugowra West Wyalong, Peak Hill and all the surrounding farming areas.
It provides vital rehabilitation, exercise and is used greatly to teach our young ones to swim, train and for our disabled to exercise as well.
Through Mr Phil Donato MP I have been diligently seeking funding from both the State and Federal Government and will continue to do so until we are successful.
If needed, we would also give people the opportunity to once again support our wonderful heated pool by donating towards the repair or replacement.
We will let the public know, once we know what our options are.
Come on Forbes I believe we can do this.
Thank you, Dianne Decker AM
Vice Chairperson, Forbes Heated Pool
Editor’s note: John Digby recalls it took 22 Art Union raffles to raise the funds for the pool initially – $32,000 – and it had been self sufficient ever since.
He said the original building was destroyed in the 1990 flood and it was rebuilt then.
