Students from year 9 to 11 have escorted the 10 steers into the competition which began on Monday, March 19.
Almost all of the steers are Limousins and are being entered into the Open Purebred categories with six expected to go into the heavyweight class.
The cattle team will also be entering a steer into the School Section, and a Limousin cross into the Trade Section.
Cattle team coordinator Susan Earl said the students were eager to compete and confident of their chances in all of the events.
Mrs Earl said the live judging will be on Friday March 23, with carcase judging to follow on Tuesday March 27.
The cattle team have been preparing for the Sydney Royal since last July, feeding, grooming and breaking in the steers.
Mrs Earl said they are happy with the condition of the steers, particularly after the warmer summer.
It’s just the beginning for the College cattle team: on return from Sydney Royal, they will be setting their sights on the next show in Bathurst.
Also on the road to Sydney Royal are four students who qualified for the parading state finals to be held on Thursday March 22.
