ALL BLACKS' REUNION
The all conquering Eugowra first grade rugby league teams of the 1960's, known as 'the All Blacks' held their annual reunion at the Eugowra Community Bowls and Recreation Club last Saturday.
The former players were once again accompanied by their wives/partners for a great lunch and an afternoon of reminiscing.
This year the former first graders were joined by the players of the 1968 Reserve grade side who won the Premiership in that year when they defeated Dubbo CYMS 6-5 in the grand final. Point scorers for Eugowra were Dale Berney who kicked two field goals and Barry Thomas who kicked two penalty goals. Their non-playing coach that year was John Porch.
MC for the reunion was Vincent Toohey who welcomed everyone and invited John Porch to speak and also John Greenhalgh and Bill Boland, who represented the Reserve grade team. Other speakers were Noel Pengilly, Barry Beath, Jeanette Norris and Mick Beath.
There was a display of memorabilia and photos which everyone enjoyed, as they looked back to their playing days for Eugowra proudly wearing the 'All Black' outfits.
Everyone agreed that the day was most enjoyable, with a lot of 'catching up' of people we go so long and don't see.
