But even he admits last weekend’s pulsating 17-16 extra-time preliminary final win over Cronulla is a complete and utter blur.

Burton and another Western Rams graduate, Forbes’ Charlie Staines, will line-up in Saturday’s NSW Rugby League under 18s grand final at Leichhardt Oval against the Canterbury Bulldogs after edging the Sharks in an absolute thriller.

Burton scored the second try of the game to nudge Penrith up 6-4 early in the contest but it was halves partner Hayden Bonanno with the killer blow, landing the deciding field goal in extra-time.

“We thought it was golden point and we were all really excited … but it was five minutes each way of extra-time,” Burton said.

“I don’t even know what happened after that, we just got down the right end of the field and hung on. It seems like a blur.”

Penrith was unbeaten throughout the 2018 SG Ball season but slipped up in week one of the finals with an 18-6 loss to the Knights.

Staines lifted the Panthers to a 30-18 bounce-back victory over the Raiders in week two with a scintillating double – he’s crossed 14 times throughout the entire season to be one of the competition’s most prolific try-scorers – before last week’s one-point epic shot Penrith into the decider.

Burton says qualifying for the grand final is beyond his wildest expectations leading into the 2018 season.

“It’s something not many kids my age get the chance to experience,” Burton said ahead of the under 18s decider.

“It’s massive for both me and Charlie. It’s been good. We’ve been going down on the Fridays training that afternoon and playing Saturday.

“We’ll just keep doing what we’re doing I guess and give the grand final a crack.”

Burton has been named at five-eighth for the Panthers while Staines will assume the custodian’s role, as he’s done all 2018, come kick-off on Saturday.
