The regional carnival attracted many hundreds of players from all parts of the West and Central West, and Riverina, aged from ten years to open ladies competing in a full day of netball.
Thank you to all the parents who worked so hard on the day, in the barbeque and canteen. Some of the parents stayed in the areas for most of the day, and the carnival would not have been a huge success without the workload undertaken, by those parents.
Thank you also to all the umpires, as games cannot be played without umpires.
Forbes was represented by four teams.
The 11 years team of players enjoyed their day, with a number of the players playing netball competition for the first time. All players worked hard, and displayed great sportsmanship in all their games.
Players are encouraged to now attend Friday netball to gain more skills, ready for their next games in Saturday competition.
The 12 years, 14 years and 17 under years representative teams continued their training, gaining experience and match practice, before they all compete in the NNSW State and State Age Championships in June and July.
Congratulations to the 14 years reps who came runner-up in the 15 years rep division. The Forbes team played up a year, to gain more experience on the day.
Results for the day are; 17 years/open division winners Young Opens; runner up Blayney 17 rep.
- 15 years rep division; winners Cowra 15 rep; runner up Forbes 14 rep.
- 14 years rep division; winners Cowra 14 rep; runner up Blayney 14 development.
- 13 years rep division; winners Parkes 13 rep; runner up Cowra 13 rep.
- 12 years rep division; winners Cowra 12 rep; runner up Warren Wildflowers.
- 11 years division; winners Blayney 11s; runner up Cowra 11s.
Thank you to FNA Carnival convenor Marg Spackman who did a huge job organising the carnival.
Carnivals
The next regional carnival is Bathurst on May 20.
An 11 years team has been entered, and players turning 10 or 11 in 2018 and wanting to pay in the carnival must put their names down at the office by Saturday. The first 10 players to nominate will be taken in the team to Bathurst.
Parents of players are asked to please help with the organisation of the players on the day.
Every team must have a coach, manager, primary carer and scorer for every game. The primary carer and scorer roles can be swapped for every game.
The representative teams of 12, 14 and 17 under will be also playing, and will continue their match practice for State and State Age championships.
A bus will be running to all regional carnivals, and parents are also welcome on the bus. Names must be put down at the office on Saturday.
Dubbo carnival will be held on May 27, and again all the above teams will be entered, and a bus will be running to Dubbo.
Friday Netball
Friday netball will continue every week, from 5pm till 6pm for anyone wanting to learn more, improve their skills and have fun playing netball.
Friday netball is free to all boys and girls, and players do not have to be registered or play Saturday competition to participate in Friday netball.
Help is needed to deliver the sessions, and everyone is welcome. Umpires are also needed, and parents wanting to learn to umpire are welcome.
NetSetGo will be introduced if volunteers are available to help deliver the program.
Saturday competition
Saturday competition will continue this week, and volunteers are now needed to help with the teams.
Every team must have a coach and manager, organised by Saturday. Thank you to the volunteers who have already volunteered.
Help will be given to anyone who volunteers. Please come to the office on Saturday to nominate.
There is still time for more players to join teams in every division and NetSetGo. Boys and girls should come to the office on Saturday.
Many boys are now joining the Saturday competition and NSG after they realise what a great fun game netball is to play.
Fast 5 will continue at the 9am time slot, and all players in that division should attend.
Any players from Division 2 who would like to also join in the Fast 5 competition at 9am and play two games on the day should come along on Saturday at 9am.
Mothers of players playing in the Saturday competition should also come along at 9am. There is no competition levy charged to any mothers who would like to join in the 9am games.
Canteen
The canteen is the main fundraiser for the FNA, and all parents will be rostered to do duty on Saturdays.
This week, parents of Swifts will be doing the duty. Thank you in anticipation.
This year there has been no canteen levy charged to any players, and the committee is now relying on volunteers to take turns in the canteen.
