This May, the Eugowra Biggest Morning Tea organising group is once again encouraging people to gather for a cup of tea and a bite to eat whilst raising money to support Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea and to help those affected by cancer.
This year’s community event will be held on Thursday May 24, at the home of Rob and Shelley Norrie at ‘South Bandon’ over Payten’s Bridge. Morning tea will be available from 10am, and there is also going to be guest speaker from 11am, former local Eugowra woman Monica Hay.
By attending an Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, participants will help Cancer Council NSW continue their life-saving cancer research, prevention, advocacy and support programs, such as the Transport To Treatment program which operates from Orange, transporting patients and their carers to their cancer related appointments.
“Without local events such as this, Cancer Council couldn’t achieve the level of impact we have within our local communities,” Brianna Carracher at Cancer Council NSW’s Western office said.
“Cancer Council’s support services are provided at a local level and can include counselling services, peer support groups, financial assistance and even transport and accommodation. We see the impact cancer has on people, and we want to lessen the burden of this.”
Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea is the largest and most successful event of its kind in Australia. Last year alone, the simple act of our participants hosting a morning tea raised $4.9 million across NSW.
