Sixteen artists from all across the State had a busy three or four days – the result is now a total of 32 murals sharing the stories and history of the community in the most colourful way.
Much of the focus leading into this year’s event was on repairing the Ashcroft Bakery and Fruiterer mural that was created last year and then badly damaged by a falling branch.
This year’s new feature is the Eugowra Bowling Club mural, to be located at the club, with local bowlers of yesteryear including Clyde Douglas, JC Adams and Bill Toohey.
Artists have also worked to add significant details to some of the earlier murals.
The train station mural, on the side of the Tapas 51 building, now features the type of train that would have visited the station.
“Click Go The Shears”, adjacent to the Rural Transaction Centre building, has had significant work on the sheep, fleece and shearing gear.
The Mary MacKillop mural at St Joseph’s School and Wilf Norris with his team of draught horses at the Museum have all been completed.
In good news for visitors, a map of the murals has been created and will be placed in the Pioneer Apex Park.
Our Eugowra correspondent Judy Smith has described the weekend as a wonderful renewal of friendships with visiting artists and signwriters.
Her notes follow …
Big thank you to all the locals who accommodated the visitors, the CWA ladies who cooked and provided food and beverages with a smile, Jacko Barnes for providing the breakfast venue on Saturday morning and Danny and Diane for providing the food for breakfast each day.
To Alan and Carla Myors at Tapas on 51 for their hospitality and tasty meal on Thursday evening and to Lisa at Cafe 51 for the yummy pizzas for Saturday for lunch.
Eat Your Greens was the chosen dining spot for dinner on Friday evening which was enjoyed by all those present.
Kenny Chu at the Bowlie cooked up a storm for Saturday evening dinner.
Even though we need rain badly we were lucky that the weather was kind for those with the brushes.
One huge 'thank you' to Jodie who has been the leader and guiding light over these past seven years. The lady who keeps everyone in line and the one who knows just what needs to be done and when.
To all the sponsors and supporters a massive 'thank you' and to Tim for being the 'Jack of all trades' running around helping everyone, especially the members of the Murals committee and the EPPA when they needed a helping hand.
A big thank you to John Den for making and donating the fire bucket for the raffle, which was very popular.
The results of the raffle and the '100 clubs' has been displayed on the notice boards around town. Thank you all for your support.
