Mr Green comes from Parkes were he farmed land also worked as professional musician on the weekends.
Barry played in many clubs and bands around NSW and Qld before deciding to go solo. Having realized his voice suited the Elvis repertoire he incorporates the Elvis style in his shows, which will be Country Elvis at the Muster.
Barry will also include songs from Allan Jackson, Roy Orbison, Mavericks and many more.
Phil Redding our President will be presenting Miss Hannah Dun with a beautiful Redding Guitar donated from the Forbes Country Music Club for her recent win as dual winner in the Junior Overall. Hannah shared this win with Chloe Lopez but as Chloe lived in Sydney and Hannah in Parkes she was gracious to wait for hers. Admission $7 adults children under 16 free.
In regards to our Musters it’s been great to see younger people coming along, joining in singing many songs. Recently two of our new younger members and friends Jade McGovern and Georgia Palazzi came along to support Phil Redding, Helen Field and Bill Dixon at the recent Relay For Life. They all got to sing a few songs as the walkers walked around the oval. Many thanks to all who attended that night, sang braving the freezing cold winter night. This is just some of the little things members do that go unnoticed sometimes where no one hears about or are thanked for.
Other News: Due to the generosity of many again our recent Talent Quest was successful. I was able to raise $7000 in 4 weeks, it took a lot of hard work but it paid off. Proud to say the club has made a $2500 profit this year first time ever for the Talent Quest. This will be held over to go towards next year’s Quest. It’s been great to see the support shown for the Club in recent months. We hope this will keep happening as it’s only getting bigger and better.
Last weekend saw the Forbes Country Music Club host its annual Members Campout at Bedgerabong Showgrounds. This also included The Big Cuppa on Sunday. This year for the first time we hosted a free lunch consisting of baked veggies and roasted meats for our members as a thank you for their support. This I must say went down really well. I think we did more eating then singing lol. On arrival many could smell the beautiful aromas coming from the kitchen and from our webber bbq were a beautiful piece of pork was cooking over hot coals. All our meats were supplied by Flint Street Butchers. Many of the members brought numerous sweet dishes. Walk ups on the weekend were Phil, Helen, Ann Penman, Bill Murray, Bill & Wade Dixon and Bruce Toole.
Sunday we held a sausage sizzle lunch which raised money for the Club, again many cakes and sweets. We held a minute silence for one of our members who recently passed away Mr James Fittler who I might add was Chloe Lopez grandpa, also Mr Alan Collitts in respect he was our drummers Brian Collitts younger brother who pass away too. Due to this everyone dug deep and we were able to raise $250 dollars for the Big Cuppa. A lovely person donated a beautiful crotched rug which we raffled. The winner was Alex Mill. We held a Cancer Sweepstake the winner was John Roberts. We also did some lucky number cards in which our members including Phil who came first donated their wins back to the Big Cuppa. Well done everyone. There were no complaints over the food on both days everyone had a fabulous time singing telling yarns or just enjoying everyone’s company. We’d again like to thank all that came or camped out there, and also to ones that got up and pitched in on both days to help in the kitchen. Your help was appreciated. To everyone who donated monies and food we thank you all. Our treasurer Steven Dixon was happy to bank the donations first thing Monday morning. We also like to thank Jim Walklate for rushing back home to pick up Phils recently bought stage lights on Saturday after we received a panicked phone call from Tyzan from Brothers 3 who was having trouble with theirs. They were so thankful as they would have had none for their show on Saturday night. We were happy to help our fellow musicians. So in all it turned out a great weekend for all.
Remember our next Muster after June will be 8th July. Special guest for that one will be Narelle Sellick.
Well that’s all for now folks, stay safe and we hope to see you all at the Musters.
