Take away the fact Parkes sits second and Forbes is coming off its best performance of the season, there’s still plenty of motivation for both the Spacemen and Magpies heading into the Group 11, June long weekend blockbuster at Pioneer Oval.

Just ask Jake Grace.
The Forbes skipper has thrown out the form guide ahead of Sunday’s derby and believes the Magpies can inflict Alex Prout’s Parkes outfit, one behind only Dubbo CYMS on the ladder, with just its second loss of the season.
Why? Because, if you’re from Forbes, you just can’t lose to Parkes.
“There’s always plenty on the line,” Grace said.
“This is Forbes against Pakres ... it’s one of those rivalries where you just don’t like to lose.”
The Magpies are coming off a resounding 38-10 victory over last year’s runners-up, Nyngan, the 2018 Tigers boasting a monster pack.

Given that, the likes of Grace, Ben Maguire, Ben Robinson and Traie Merritt stood tall in victory, but none overshadowed the work of young fullback Charlie Staines.
Fresh off winning the SG Ball premiership with Penrith, Staines debuted in Forbes’ 28-point thumping of the Tigers, scoring two tries in a memorable first outing in Group 11’s top grade.
The young custodian has again been named in the No.1 by coach Cameron Greenhalgh for Sunday’s clash, giving the Magpies a serious strike weapon at the back.
“He’s one of those players, if you give him the ball and he doesn’t make a line break, his pass is always on the money too … he’s outstanding, you don’t go to Sydney for no reason,” Grace added.
“He’s staying at home this year and playing a bit with his mates, but as long as he’s happy to play first grade, too, we’re more than happy to have him.”
Sunday’s games start at 11am with the league tag, before a top-of-the-table clash in the under 18s at 12pm. First grade is scheduled to start at 2.30pm at Parkes.
