The showcase of young talent launches with the music, speech and drama sections at Forbes Town Hall from midday Friday.
It will be a big week of performance for talented youth in solo and group performance, from reading to drama and school dance troupes.
Melissa Philp from Toowoomba is our adjudicator for the week, she trained at DDIAE and graduated with the award for Best Performer and the Deans' Trophy for Solfege.
She has achieved her Licentiate with Trinity College London in both piano and recorder, and holds a Fellowship with Trinity as well.
She has had a prestigious teaching career with numerous highlights, has performed with her students in the Sydney Opera House on many occasions, has toured the UK with a flute trio, and her students have won countless awards and scholarships.
Ms Philp has directed the Australian Flute Convention, the Australian Instrumental Convention, Opera with the Cows and many other events.
Melissa now teaches in Toowoomba at Toowoomba Grammar School and travels extensively throughout Australia presenting workshops in rural/regional areas.
Organisers say entries are up yet again for this year’s eisteddfod, which includes the dance sections on at Forbes High School in the second week of the July school holidays.
A total 309 individuals and 13 schools have put in 1473 entries and committee members Von Janetzski and Karyn Glennan are expecting another very successful eisteddfod.
Locals are well represented along with performers from Parkes, Trundle, Cowra, Orange, Bathurst, Leeton and Jugiong.
Entry prices remain $3 per person per session, or $2 concession.
