Parents of children struggling with reading and writing are encouraged to take advantage of the 90 minutes of tips, insight and practical knowledge about what dyslexia is and how they can help their children get over the reading hump.
As a nine-year-old, Tom had a 'superior' IQ, but could never understand why he still couldn't read or write.
He watched on as his classmates moved on to the next year level while he spent years in remediation and special education. Tom has now educated more than 5000 people about dyslexia at seminars across the country.
This seminar shortcuts the journey to understand what is really happening for dyslexic children, it also features a parent’s perspective from Marianne Mullally.
Their website explains that dyslexia is a language-based learning disability. It refers to a cluster of symptoms, which result in people having difficulties with specific language skills, particularly reading.
Causes are still not completely clear. Dyslexia is not due to either lack of intelligence, or desire to learn, the website says.
