What a beautiful day to be outdoors last week as 26 ladies were on the green and really enjoying themselves. We welcomed Ronnie Bradley who is doing the nomad trail and saying goodbye to the house and travelling around Australia.

Playing social Triples Alice Allen Glenys Ryan and Judy Girot were defeated by Loris Stewart Leslie Dunstan and Pat Hodson. Robyn Mattiske, Noela Girot and Colleen Liebich won their game against Meg Butler. Ann Mackay and Anne Walker. Mary Everson, Sandra Priest and Ronnie Bradley defeated Margaret O’Connell, Lyn Simmonds and Carmel Murray all games played were very close in scores.
Alison Cutcliffe and Jan Waugh won the rink of the day winning by one shot against Pam Stevens and Annette Tisdell in a social pairs game.
The Minor Pairs competition was played with Judy Kerr and Colleen Dean(who was a sub) defeating Jill Taylor and Lyn Elliott 22-9.
Pat Hodson bowled a resting toucher and birthday greetings go to Judy Girot Colleen Liebich was the lucky winner of the meat tray.
The draw is on the board for the Major Triples competition so ladies have a look and organise your play in the next couple of weeks.
Members learned of the death of Hazel Girot this week She won many of our competitions and was a great bowler over many years.
A spider competition will be held tomorrow It is great that a caterer will be in the club again and ladies will be able to purchase their lunch tomorrow.
Social Bowls will be played so ring your name in to the club between 9am and 9.30am and you will be in a team. Looking forward to seeing you all for a 10am start

Last Wednesday June 19 was seventh week of our Winter Comp. At this stage brothers Danny and Waynes, teams have the leading positions. D Bils are first, while other team places are; W Bils second, Millers third, Allegris fourth, Roaches fifth and Coombs sixth. The highest scorers were W Bils on 15 points, while lowest was Roaches with six.
Three set matches dominated, with only two, four set battles. One was Simon Flynn against Anthony Gordon. Simon came away winner in a gripping last set.
Their scores were; 15–9, 13–15, 15–5, 19–17. Another big match was Ben Barnards loss to George Falvey in their fifth set 10–15. Kim Acret threw the squash shoes on, grabbed a racket and went three sets with Cameron Toole. Though losing it was a good effort by Kim. A narrow three set loss went to Will Wallace, who lost to Ethan Gaffney; 16–18, 12–15, 14–16.

Court One; W Bils (15) defeated D Bils (13) Wayne beat Danny 3–0, S Flynn beat A Gordon 3–1, G Miller McMillan lost to S Tottenham 0–3.

Court Three; Allegris (14) tied Coombs (14) Brendon beat Graham 3–0, E Stewart lost to N Toole 0–3, H Toole lost to P Cormie 0–3, A Carlisle beat T Cormie 3–0.
Thursday night, the highest score was made by Hornerys at 30 points while Kings were lowest with 12. Sandy Paterson was consistent, defeating of Mark Webb; 15–6, 15–13, 13–15, 15–12 and Sandy’s team mate, Alex Bayley played neat squash after a lapse to win the fifth set 18–16, against Gaylene Nightingale. Tasmyn King played well but found Debbie Bryants last three, well placed shots irretrievable and Ellie Cowhan knew where to put the ball to beat Sam Mackay 3–1. The final match of the evening was Sam Hornery versus Richard King where into the fifth set Richard was forced to retire injured. Nothing to serious we hope. When the dust settled, Doyles retained first position, Pipers are second, Sharpes third with Hornerys nipping at their heels, Dawes are fifth and Kings are at sixth place.

It’s surprising how many stalwarts turn out for their game of croquet early in the mornings. We’ve been catering for up to 32 players each Tuesday and Saturday and having a lot of fun as well as gentle exercise. We love new comers to come along for a taste of the game or just to watch.

Forbes veteran golfers stole the headlines at the Lachlan Valley Vets 18 hole competition played in Parkes last Thursday highlighted by Garry Pymont winning the NSW Vets Medal scoring 38 stableford points.
Players who contested the medal qualified after finishing with the top three scores at each of the past 18 hole LVV competitions over the last 12 months.
On top of that LVV president and Forbes member Peter Barnes scored best of the 63 players on Thursday winning A grade with 40 points from two other Forbes members, Max Haley (runner-up) with 34 on a count-back from Tony Cogswell.
Parkes member Gordon Christie took out B grade with 37 points from Condobolin's David Hall on 36 points.
In C grade best was Ross Skene from Cowra with 39 points from Robert Lea (Parkes) with 37 on a count-back from Forbes' Brain Clarke. Not to be outdone Forbes also took home the Encouragement Award which was presented to John Smith who was slightly taken back after only collecting a single ball, instead of the usual two.
Adding further to the success from Forbes their best three scores from the party of 18 representatives won the Geoff Coles/Mick Miller Shield with 115 points from Parkes (also 18 players) on 110, Cowra (9 players) 105, Grenfell (5 players) 95, Condobolin (12 players) 94 and West Wyalong (1 player) 22.

Golf on Thursday reverts back to the superb surrounds of the Forbes 'golfie' with nominations from 12.30pm for a shot-gun tee-off at 1pm with competition over 12 holes.
Brian Clarke is certainly taking to golf in a big way with improvements each week. Last Tuesday was a perfect example where he won the 12 hole social comp with 32 points. Next best was Geoff Coles on 29 points.
Everyone is invited to play the 12 hole Tuesday comp with ball toss at 9.30am for playing partners. After a cool start conditions improve rapidly for great outdoor sports.
