Bill grew up on a farm at Yarrabandai, having been born in Sydney and spent some time in Old Junee.
He enlisted with the Australian Army in WWII and was sent to Papua New Guinea and Borneo in 1942 with the 2/10 Battalion.
Upon his return in 1946, he shared a farm with his brothers at Yarrabandai.
In February 1949 he married Erla Peasley and together they settled on the farm in Yarrabandai. William and Erla had three daughters and one son and carried on farming until eventually moving to Parkes in 1984.
Whilst in Parkes, he enjoyed bowls at the Diggers and the Railway Bowls Club, hosted a family Christmas every year and grew produce in his back yard.
Bill turned 100 at JRV on June 25. He thoroughly enjoyed his day and appreciated everyone’s effort to celebrate it with him. William has made it to this special age with the support of his four children, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
