The Magpies host Dubbo Macquarie at Spooner Oval this Sunday and coach Cameron Greenhalgh says they’re taking one game at a time.
Last Sunday saw the Magpies take down Dubbo Westside to claim a 46-20 victory, but they certainly won’t be resting on their laurels.
While confident in their preparations at training this week, Greenhalgh is wary of the speed that Macquarie can produce.
“Dubbo Macquarie have got a lot of speed on their edges and we want to shut them down as soon as possible,” he said.
After suffering a narrow defeat to Macquarie in Round 2, Greenhalgh said they need to focus on what they need to get right, especially where they put the ball.
“We know what we’ve got to change,” he said.
This weekend sees a couple of new faces on the field for the Magpies, including the return of 2016 premiership hooker Hayden Bolam.
Greenhalgh said the return of the experienced Bolam will be invaluable to the Magpies.
With only six games remaining in the regular season, Forbes fans can expect to see their side step up.
“I think our best football is to come,” Greenhalgh said.
Going into this weekend, the Magpies are sitting in fourth place with 10 points behind Dubbo CYMS on 16 points, Wellington on 12 and Parkes on 12.
In rugby union, the Platypi head to Dubbo to meet the Kangaroos.
