Local Ian Taylor posted a cheque to Orange, and received it back postmarked Orleans, France six weeks later.
He’s a little incredulous his cheque has been to Paris for just the cost of a $1 stamp – but is very happy to have the mystery of his unpaid account settled.
The cheque was returned in an envelope postmarked 45925 Oralens Cedex 9 and stamped “Lettre prioritaire”.
It has been returned by “Orange, Unite de Facturation Et De Recouvrement”.

It was accompanied by a handwritten note in French, saying Sir, please find your cheque over AUD 450 returned which cannot be processed (or honoured) by us (Orange, the company).
Mr Taylor brought the envelope in to the Advocate to see if we could help work out where his cheque had been on its travels.
Many thanks to Martin Rein from Red Bend Catholic College who translated the note for us!
