“I sat there at work one day, comfortable in my job and I tried to think of five days at work which would make me smile when I was an old man,” said the author of The Long Road From a Broken Heart.
Despite not owning a bike at the time, open heart surgery as a child taught the Kiwi that life was precious and “comfortable” wouldn’t do, so he decided it was time to cycle home.
On his cross-continent ride, Mr Scott journeyed through 29 countries on a two and a half year trip back to New Zealand.
The author is now on a different trip, touring the country to motivate others to live their best life.
Mr Scott has been invited to speak at the next Forbes Rotary Club to share his journey around the world on a bicycle to raise funds for Heart research, after his own open heart surgery as a child.
To hear his story, head down to the Heritage Cafe at 6:30pm, July 11.
