In section 3 Robert Hamilton of Molong defeated a member of his own club in Paul Davis, and in section 7 Steve Galvin of Grenfell had the win over Peter Creith of Parkes.
The finalists of each section now go to Dubbo on Saturday to find out who will go on to the State finals.
The members of our Forbes club did well and although some were defeated in the first round most of the results were very close.
Only four of our members reached the second round and they were Scott McKellar, John ‘Gunna’ Williams, Brian Tisdell and Peter MacKay.
Congratulations to the members who took part in this competition, it’s a step up to play against the best from other clubs.
And the quality of bowls played in the two finals were better than most of the games seen on SBS television.
I must also congratulate Scooter Andrews for the quality of the greens he prepared for the weekend, they were outstanding, not that they were any different than usual Scooter.
The final of our Club Major Fours are to be played on Saturday.
This should be very good games as the teams are evenly matched.
The two teams taking to the green are; Christian West, Graham West, Brian Asimus and Scott Andrews who play Lawrence Jackson, Viv Russell, Greg Gunn and Bert Bayley.
Wednesday at One
There was another good roll up last Wednesday at One.
Alf Davies and John Kennedy were equally matched with a draw against Scott McKellar and Tony Bratton.
Barry Wright played with both sides but it was still Bill O’Connell who finished up one shot ahead of John Gorton.
Our visitor Peter Drown from Mandurah in WA teamed up with Laurie Crouch and finished up three shots ahead of Barry Shine and Ray Dunstan in a very close match.
Ray Drabsch and Denis Byrnes made a good team with a three shot win from Jim Maloy and Dennis Christy.
Cliff Nelson and Geoff Williams came good in the second half of the match to take a five shot victory from Peter MacKay and Rob Priest.
The meat tray went to our new caravan friend from Mandurah in Western Australia so Peter will be back on his next trip through Forbes.
