It’s been a busy month for the local, starting with the Australian Open on the Gold Coast.
Leisa won her three qualifying games in singles but was knocked out with a narrow 21-19 loss to last year’s runner-up.
She then partnered with Teri Gorrie for the pairs and they again won their three qualifying games, but met defeat in the opening round of competition.
On to the State Champion of Champions title, where the Forbes champion progressed through the rounds on a clear course to the finals. In one game, she was down 19-6 and fought back for a 25-23 win.
Leisa went down 25-21 in a hard-fought match to the title’s eventual winner Lee Benson.
This weekend she’s competing in the ladies triples at Canowindra, before turning her focus to preparations for next week’s mixed pairs competition which is at capacity with a total 42 entries from around the region.
