According to the Bureau of Meteorology the previous high for Forbes airport was 21.8 degrees, recorded on July 19 2016.
It might not be our warmest July day ever, though. A look at BOM’s records for Camp Street shows a high of 25 degrees in 1880, and a 23.3 recorded in 1933.
But as quickly as the taste of Spring arrived it departed.
The mercury dropped to zero on Saturday and Sunday mornings, reaching tops of 12 and 13 degrees although the wind chill had it feeling colder.
Unfortunately the cold change came without any significant rainfall, with the region remaining desperately dry.
Forbes airport has recorded 104mm so far this year, our average rainfall to this point is 287mm.
The wind is forecast to remain in the south for the rest of this week, with frosty mornings and sunny afternoons reaching afternoon tops of 15 degrees.
