The weekend’s bleak weather may have kept a lot of the crowds away but it didn’t stop the Platypi from getting a much needed win against Orange City.

The Platypi are well on their way to finishing this season within the top four after their 48-5 win against Orange City last Saturday.
The win is a turn around from last week’s loss to the Kangaroos in Dubbo, but according to Platypi’s manager Phil Prior, winning the next three games will still be a tough task.
“Obviously, with three games left, it’s important that we win at least two of them,” Prior said.
During the win against Orange City, the Platypi secured an important bonus point, a major aim for the team, skipper Jack Hammond said.
“Our goal was to get maximum points and keep our season alive,” Hammond said.
Prior said their short term goal was to get as many points as possible and although “it wasn’t pretty”, the team got it done.
Going into the next round, the Platypi are sitting on equal fourth with the Dubbo Roos and Prior said they hope to keep their scoring momentum up.
Prior is confident their momentum will be assisted by several players coming back from injury and holidays.
Hammond said this win against Orange City was a confidence booster for the team, with three tough games left to go in the season.
In second grade, the Platypi defeated Orange City 28 to 22, which cemented their place in the top four for the remainder of the season according to Prior.
Next week, the Platypi are heading off to Bathurst to square off against the Bulldogs who are currently sitting in second place.
”We hopefully will give them a run for their money, as they are coming in to it with a loss,” Hammond said.
Bathurst Bulldogs suffered a nail-biting 1 point loss to Orange Emus on Saturday after trailing for the majority of the first half. After clawing their way to within one point, their hopes of a match-winning conversion were dashed by poor weather and conditions.
This recent loss for the Bulldogs won’t make them any easier for the Platypi to overcome.
“It is going to be a tough day at the office,” Hammond said.
After facing the Bulldogs this weekend, the Platypi will go up against Orange Emus and will then finish off the normal season in a home game against Cowra Eagles.
