Girl Over the Edge is Kim’s second memoir about her lived experience of mental illness.
Kim said the memoir aims to take the reader into episodes of depression that she has personally experienced.
In the memoir, Kim draws upon five years of experience to give an insight to what happens in public and private hospitals. Kim’s presentation will give you insight and also challenge beliefs, attitudes and reduce the stigma around mental illness.
“Mental illness is still swept under the carpet. I want to start discussions in small communities (about the) shame and stigma of mental illness,” Kim said.
Kim’s account of what depression feels like to her will help to add to our understanding of it.
