But Rural Aid, Farm Rescue and local business owners Kim Lowe and Herb Beer of K&H Interiors and Design want to relieve those household stresses for a few local families and they need the help of Forbes residents to participate in an auction on Friday night, August 10, 2018.
Many hands make light work and this is about our community.
They’re offering to have several mini farm and garden makeovers for families in the Forbes district.
But before that happens an information evening and auction is planned.
The information evening will be held at K&H Designs in Rankin Street at 7pm on August 10 before the auction in the Sylo building from 8pm.
If you could RSVP before the evening that would be great, just so organisers can cater for the evening.
Tim Mackey from Forbes Livestock Agency has volunteered to be auctioneer for the evening.
“There are three ways people can get involved,” Kim has said.
“They can donate money, they can donate product or they can volunteer to help.
“If they don’t have money even if they say they can give one hour of their time they can go online and register at the Farm Rescue website www.farmrescue.com.au/farm-rescue as a volunteer.”
Kim and Herb believe coming home to a beautiful space where things are functioning smoothly is an enormous boost to your mental health – even when conditions outside are tough.
Buy a Bale’s Farm Rescue project is backing the project, with people in the city committing both to the fundraising and volunteering their skills to the renovation.
Nation-wide, Buy a Bale is accepting donations towards not only fodder for stock but for fuel, water and groceries through the website www.buyabale.com.au
Their Farm Rescue project looks to connect a “farmy army” of skilled volunteers with jobs that need doing on farms such as fencing, mechanical work and a range of jobs that just get put off.
Kim and Herb want to bring that sort of support to the Forbes district.
They know the pressures on a family can be myriad, and while they can’t make it rain they want to help.
“Forbes has been good to us, so we want to give back to Forbes,” she said.
“I want families on farms to know that they have support.”
Community members will be asked to nominate a farm or farmers can register themselves as potential recipients of a Farm Rescue.
This registration process can be managed by logging on to Farm Rescue website farmrescue.com.au
Properties registered will be assessed by a builder and a recipient will be chosen by Rural Aid, Farm Rescue.
The Farm Rescue, Rural Aid will be delivered during October 14 to 20 with the project hoping to lift the spirits of up to 10 farming families in the Forbes district with Sunrise Channel 7 wanting to attend.
“We hope to attract 100 volunteers, create a volunteers camp in the centre of Forbes, engage with the community with our outdoor cinema and create a fantastic community event as well as helping lift farmers spirits,” Farm Rescue states on its website.
“We want to pump vital money into the town, help local businesses with our purchases and at the same time lift the spirit of farmers doing it tough.”
Businesses keen to get involved can contact Kim Lowe at K&H Design on 6851 6909 or Farm Rescue on 1300 327 624.
