It’s Homelessness Week next week (6-12 August) and it’s all about raising awareness of people experiencing homelessness, the issues they face and the action needed to achieve enduring solutions.
This year’s theme is ‘Ending homelessness together’.
CatholicCare Wilcannia Forbes is holding a pop-up homelessness hub in Parkes and Forbes during Homelessness Week.
Services will be available on the day, allowing those who are couch surfing or doing it tough the opportunity to update their details, ask questions and arrange appointments.
CatholicCare’s ultimate aim is to help people take action to change their circumstances.
Soup will also be available on the day.
The pop-up homelessness hub will operate in Parkes at Cooke Park between 10am and 12pm on Monday, August 6.
There will be two hubs in Forbes. One on Thursday, August 9 at Victoria Park between 10am and 12pm, and one on Friday, August 10 at Jenny Murphy Park between 11am and 1pm.
CatholicCare assisted 524 clients in total in our region during 2017 – 203 in Parkes and 111 in Forbes.
