The country show is on Saturday August 18 and once again it’s got everything you love about the annual event from the ring events and agricultural competitions to the fireworks at night.
This year’s special focus is cattle, and there’ll be a milking demonstration.
Regular competitions for sheep and cattle return, and this year there are classes for pigs too.
The popular fire bucket competition is again a feature, with the Oliver Carlisle Memorial trophy to be presented to the people’s choice.
The animal nursery will be open for the kids, and Dane the Great is returning to mystify young and old alike with his magic show.
Whipcracking demonstrations and a display of vintage machinery by the Forbes and District Historic Tractor Club are also on the day’s agenda.
A championship dog show is being held in conjunction with the show, and 400 dogs across 96 breeds are expected to enter.
Of course, a key part of the show is the pavilion exhibits and it’s time to get those entries ready.
You can pick up a show schedule from the Advocate office and get your art, cooking, craft, photography, home brew or eggs ready.
The show office is open Friday afternoon for pavilion entries to be delivered.
You can purchase your 50 cent entry tickets from the Glass Menagerie in Forbes, or from the pavilion and show office on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning.
There’s a class for every member of the family to get something in.
Admission on the day is $15 for non-members 16 years and over, or $5 for pensioners. Kids under 16 are free.
Members, you can pay beforehand at the secretary’s office or by direct debit. You are also encouraged to come along and help out at a working bee this Saturday at the showground from 9am to 3pm.
Following Bedgerabong, the Show circuit comes to Forbes on Friday and Saturday September 7 and 8.
This is the 143rd Forbes Show, and the 55th year of the Showgirl competition.
Traditional show favourites will return, but there’s something new as well with ute barrel racing in the arena and a mosaic section in the pavilion.
Schedules and the list of horse ring events are available online this year at forbesshow.com
Preparations for Eugowra Show are also underway, it is on Saturday September 15.
