With 100 per cent of the state now declared in drought, the lack of rain has left farmers struggling to feed stock, others with failed crops and many with dry dams.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian appeared on Channel 7’s Sunrise program on Thursday morning to answer questions about the drought and the government’s assistance for farmers.

Host David Koch asked whether national parks could be opened to allow stock to feed in them.

“That’s something we definitely need to take on board but obviously that could have a detrimental impact on things,” she said.

Mr Koch also asked about whether drought-affected farmers might be able to access water reserves.

“We’re looking at our water strategy policy at the moment,” Ms Berejiklian replied.

“When things are this bad we need to make sure all the options are on the table.

“We’re looking at the options to see what we need.”
