Councillors voted to introduce restrictions at their meeting on Thursday afternoon given the drought conditions, although understanding that domestic water supply is quite secure.
Level 1 water restrictions mean that the “odds and evens” system, based on house numbers, comes into play for garden watering.
Measures outlined in Council’s business paper say fixed sprinklers and soaker hoses are only allowed between 6pm and 8pm on your day.
Automatic systems can be used between 1am and 3am after notifying Council, you can water with a hose by hand.
Washing of paved areas is prohibited, as is filling up of new swimming pools without written exemption from Council. Want to wash the car? Do it on the lawn.
Councillor Chris Roylance asked what the trigger points for further restrictions were, Council’s Director Engineering and Technical Services John Zannes said he did not want to preempt any further action.
Wyangala Dam is listed as being at 60 per cent of its capacity and falling on the Water NSW website.
