A dramatic redraft of the federal government’s National Energy Guarantee (NEG) and furious speculation about a leadership spill have plagued Malcolm Turnbull this week.
It was expected that the NEG would be introduced to parliament this week.
As recently as two days ago, Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton declared his support for the Prime Minister, Fairfax Media reports.
Through their spokespeople, Hume MP Angus Taylor and Parkes MP Mark Coulton said no comment would be made on the current leadership speculation.
Fairfax Media was advised that no comment would be made on whether these MPs supported Turnbull or who was vying to replace the Prime Minister.
Meanwhile Fairfax Media is waiting on a response from Riverina MP and Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack and Calare MP Andrew Gee.
