Tess Bailey says she has had a brilliant time as a Rural Achiever and can’t recommend the program highly enough.
“It was an absolutely fantastic experience,” she said.
The Young Achievers spent eight days behind the scenes at Sydney Royal, exploring all areas of the show, and attended events including afternoon tea at the Governor General’s house.
There was also a personal development day with training in networking, public speaking, confidence and more.
“I’m not sure what I was expecting, but it blew my expectations out of the water,” Tess said.
“Probably the biggest thing I got out of it was the people I got to meet.”
Connections forged in the program also saw Tess connect with and steward at the Royal Highland Show in Edinburgh, Scotland, on a recent trip overseas.
“It was an incredible experience, I loved every minute of it,” she said.
The RAS of NSW Rural Achiever Award is a statewide leadership program recognising young people aged between 20 and 29 who are demonstrating a significant contribution to rural NSW.
Tess said the Rural Achievers were from a range of walks of life, with different interests and community involvement, she urged people to apply even if they weren’t necessarily heavily involved with the show yet.
Eight chosen finalists will receive a share in $17,000 prizemoney; one-year RAS Membership; and an eight-day all expenses paid, behind the scenes experience at the 2019 Sydney Royal Easter Show.
Entries close on Wednesday, October 3. You must be able to attend all eight days of the program at the Sydney Royal Easter Show in 2019.
