No doubt there will be awards galore inside the pavilion, there will also be a wealth of competition across the showground with plenty of prizes on offer.
There is something for everyone to watch and cheer, or to try your hand at if you’re feeling lucky. Eugowra Show Secretary, Sean Hayes, said that the show was trying to get back to it’s regional roots.
“We have a jam packed day full of entertainment and competition planned. We have updated a few categories to keep them relevant while adding in some events that have been missing for a few years such as the wood chopping competition and chainsaw display, along with the golden plough demonstration,” he said.
The draught horse competition is one of the popular exhibitions that not only present some truly amazing horses but also remind people of the way things used to be done. Sean said while Champion Stallion, Mare and Gelding titles are up for grabs, the coveted titles were the Pulling and Snigging Champions which are based on skill, weight and presentation.
“It’s always great to see draught horses in action doing what they do best. We will also be holding a golden plough demonstration which is a contest that used to be held many years ago. There is a good group of people trying to get the event reintroduced with a lot of young competitors, so it will be good to see it back at the show,” he said.
The traditional horse ring events including show jumping will feature some of the best talent from across the region, while other animals will also have their time in the spotlight with the yard dog trials kicking off early on Saturday morning, while the dog high jump will take place in the afternoon.

For those people looking for a bit more action, the Ute Show and Shine promises to parade some amazing utes including Best Street Ute, Best B’n’S Ute, Chicks Ute, and of course the great rivalry Best Holden and Best Ford.
Things will go up a gear when the barrel racing takes place with both utes and motorbikes racing around a set course in the hope of setting the fastest time to take out first place and highly prized bragging rights.
If you still need even more excitement then it doesn’t get much bigger or better than the Demolition Derby with competitors testing themselves and their vehicles in the quest to be last person standing. There will also be a prize for the most spectacular drive, so be sure to keep an eye out for some wild and creative tactics.
Of course everyone’s favourites will also be at the show including the Miss Showgirl competition, with the winner for 2018 to be announced at the show’s official opening, before the day is capped off with the amazing fireworks display.
