The Forbes Netball Association recently held the Grand finals of Division 2 and 3 in the Saturday competition.
Families and friends gathered at the Forbes courts to support the girls and boys playing in their teams.
The Division 3 grand final was between Joeys and minor premiers Wallabies.
Joeys had defeated Wallabies in the major semi final, and Wallabies were ready to turn the results around in the grand final.
Joeys scored the first goal, leading 1-0 at the quarter break, and then scored another three goals in the second quarter to be ahead 4-0 at half time.
Joeys players Delilah Karaitiana and Milli Robson have made huge improvements in their playing standard during the season, and lead the way for Joeys.
The momentum changed in the third quarter, when Wallabies scored three goals to come within one goal of the lead. Sisters Hannah and Clare Williams lead the fight back for Wallabies.
The final quarter was again very close, with Lili Cronin and Chloe Amery helping to secure the win for Joeys, with the goal count being 2-1 to Joeys.
Wallabies players Laura Greenhill and Zoe Frazer played great netball to help their team.
All players should be congratulated on their outstanding sportsmanship.
Final score was Joeys 6 defeating Wallabies 4.
The Division 2 grand final was between minor premiers Swifts and Lightning.
The first quarter went goal for goal with the score locked at 3 all.
Swifts pulled ahead in the second quarter, going into the half time break with a lead of 10-6.
Swifts players Georgia Cole and Sienna Carver played great netball, leading the way for their team. They were supported by Tom Greenhill, who also had a great game for Swifts.
The third quarter was dominated by Swifts, who increased their lead by scoring 11-0.
Lightning players Ebonnie Hopley and Katie Crouch played their best to try and keep their team in the game, supported by Melissa Read.
The final quarter saw Swifts again increase their lead by 3-1, and all players still never giving up.
Final score was Swifts 24 defeating Lightning 7.
The Spring netball competitions for both mixed and ladies teams are underway, with round 2 to be played tomorrow night.
A new team has joined the mixed competition, so there will not be a bye in either competitions.
Team representatives are reminded to please check the draw carefully, as teams will be allocated to do umpiring duties.
The next meeting of the FNA will be 7pm, September 20 at at the Forbes Services Memorial Club. All teams must have a representative and will receive two competition bonus points.
