Red Bend’s Under 16s, which won the 2017 premiership, managed to secure the premiership 30-16, ending their season with only one loss under their belts.
Coach Mark Hartwig said the team worked hard for the win throughout the entire game, though Parkes did not make it easy on them.
“It could’ve gone either way, (but) with 15 minutes to go we got into a rhythm and scored more points.”
Hartwig said he would like to congratulate all of the players on their hard work during the game and season and that he would like to thank the club, other coaches and supporters.
Hartwig is hopeful the majority of the team will continue on playing rugby in the next season.
However, the 2018 season is not completely over for the Red Bend Under 16s. They now have the opportunity to play the winner of the Dubbo competition, the Wellington Cowboys, which will decide the Overall Group 11 Premiers.
This game will be played at at Manildra on Tuesday, September 18 and will kick off at 6.30pm.
