Pilots from the Hunter to Western Victoria, from the Bush Pilots Down Under and Pilots Lounge groups, met in Forbes to collect donations from Central West Drought Care Packages and then went on to Tottenham to deliver them.
The aerial convoy of small planes was a welcome sight landing in Tottenham on Sunday.
The Tottenham Rural Fire Brigade, with support from Condobolin brigade, hosted a barbecue for about 100 people when the planes arrived.
It was an opportunity for some of the district’s farming families to take some time off the farm.
Coordinator, local farmer Brad Shephard whose social media page Farmer From Down Under went viral during the 2016 flooding, said it was a great day and people enjoyed looking at the planes.
A team of pilots from Cessnock put on a display of formation flying over the event to everyone’s delight.
The RFS supplied the sausage sizzle and will distribute care packages.
Central West Drought Care was started by Karen White in Parkes, she has accepted donations of everything from household items to dog food to give to farming families.
