I am looking forward to being involved in more educational activities in the Parkes and Forbes Shires next term and hoping to get out to all schools with our school resource boxes with heaps of books and activities for students.
We held our monthly Central West Lachlan Landcare (CWLL) meeting in Forbes on Wednesday evening and we are excited to have a fantastic line up of events and activities during October.
- October 6, we are working with Parkes Shire Council to hold our next Landcare Motley Crew events….yes, there are two! The first is for the early birds at 7am in the Waterwise Garden via Welcome Street. This is basically a ‘power hour’ to get you pumping for the day! At 9am we will be working at the East Street end of PAC Park on Council’s wetland plantings. Please feel free to bring coffee and snacks….anything to keep you going! - Sunday, 7 October 7, the National Parks Association will be hosting a walk to Peregrine’s Track at Weddin National Park. This is rated as a ‘hard’ 7km walk and walkers need to contact walk leader, Peter Cannon on 6866 1225.
- October 17-18 we are working with Topsoil Organics and Soil Land Food in Forbes and are pleased to have presenter and soil scientist, David Hardwick speaking at the Compost as a Catalyst for Cropping Field Day, with demonstrative machinery, and talking about soil conditioning and soil health.
- October 22-28 We will be participating in the Aussie Backyard Bird Count.
