Last month Barry Wright was inducted into membership and gave a brief talk about how he was the eldest of 11 children, has lived all of his life in Forbes and likes to play lawn bowls, swims and is into Tai Chi.
And there will probably be more inductions in the immediate months to come with John Whatmore and John Gorton both visitors to our last meeting.
Tour director Alan Toole said there were now 40 starters for the mystery trip in November.
Well where to begin on last month’s guest speaker Justine Fisher?
Justine is General Manager of Government External Relations and Community for Clean TEC Sunrise…a Listed Australian company that will mine at nearby Fifield. The company will mine cobalt, scandium and nickel.
Justine told the meeting that cobalt and nickel prices are rising because of the needs of those producing electric vehicles.
She said a 70km pipeline will be built taking water to Fifield and that three Shires will be involved, Lachlan, Parkes and Forbes.
The mine is expected to provide work as the pipeline construction work begins then the mine itself and 300 once it is operating.
That would mean there would be the possibilities of accommodation needs in Forbes for those moving here and that being the case buses would run from Forbes to the mine site for workers and return.
This month’s guest speaker is Kristina Gray from Jemalong Retirement Village who will talk on aged care.
