A huge thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the wonderful Forbes Multicultural Group’s Cambodian and Peruvian night.
With more than 90 people in attendance, we were thrilled by the wonderful atmosphere that was created in the St Johns Anglican Hall, our thanks for the offer of free use of this hall by Rev Crystal Spindler and her team.
The group commitment to setting up on Friday morning enabled a colourful spectacle for the event and a gentle start on Saturday afternoon - after so many were creative in the kitchen making delicious eats.
Special thanks to Navy and Nin for the most delicious Cambodian Chicken Curry and to Nancy and her Momma for the Peruvian entrée, of potato, chicken and egg mayonnaise – but it was what you did with those ingredients – delicious Nancy!
Then Nin and Nicky May were creative in putting together the fashion parade with so very many models!
We enjoyed the confidence of the children who “snapped or posed” so well in many different outfits.
Thanks to Socheata for the delightful singing and encouragement to dance; as well as darling Hannah, who can believe such a voice at such a tender age – you were both divine!
Our thanks to the new arrival and Orange Cambodian community members who came and helped, modelled and cooked – so many things!
To our new arrivals to the Forbes and Parkes area from other countries who brought their families and were so engaging in sharing throughout the evening – we want to thank each of you.
I want to single out a few other special people who offered so much in the preparation, action and activity on the night particularly behind the scenes; Kimberley Harris from Forbes Council, Shellene Castleman from Ability Links and Robi – Tafe Welfare Student extraordinaire from Orange.
Finally Forbes Shire Council for the generous sponsorship of the event.
