Exhibition curator Ro Burns says the synergy between the works of Forbes’ Georgina O’Shea and Parkes’ Jo Laurie is a bit magical, as the name of the exhibition suggests.
“The artists are exhibiting their own creative mastery, incredible in their own right, but the synergy of bringing them together in this exhibition is true alchemy; a magical transformation,” she said.
Georgina O’Shea has recently returned to live in Forbes after leaving in her late teens to Melbourne.
As a glass artist, her wearable art creations are linked to her studies of ancient civilisations and connected to her life experiences.
Georgina uses glass, bronze, copper, clay and an alchemic process of creating metal from clay.
The artisan jewellery she presents in this exhibition are inspired by her return to Forbes, the environment and ancient connections.
Jo Laurie resides in Parkes and is well known locally for her intuitive art works and her “Intentional Creativity” workshops for women in rural and remote areas.
The exhibition’s opening celebration is from 6pm on Friday October 19, $5 cover charge. Alchemy is on show until November 4.
