A 23-year-old Victorian man was arrested at 12.15am on Sunday following a string of alleged offences, including a number of rural crime offences, that occurred around the Lake Cargelligo region during the past fortnight.
Following the police investigation, the man’s vehicle was stopped on Conapaira Street, Lake Cargelligo.
“It is alleged that the male slaughtered and butchered an Angus cow on Wednesday, October 10, on a property near Euabalong West, leaving the carcass on the property, which was found by the manager,” police said via a statement on social media.
“Tyre tracks were followed from the carcass through a fence that the male had driven over to a vehicle with a blown out tyre.
Police were called and arrived soon after but the male drove his vehicle towards a police officer, forcing him to jump out of the way to avoid being hit, before travelling through a number of properties and damaging fences.
