The Forbes Riverside Community Garden has launched their now annual competitions: the best vegetable garden and best scarecrow.

Entries close Friday November 2 and the winners of both competitions will be announced on Saturday November 10 at the Community Garden Open Day from 9am to 1pm.
The open day will include stalls with plants available for purchase and a sausage sizzle from midday.
Entry is free and there is a new category in both competitions this year and that is “Community Group”.
Entries for the best vegetable garden has to be located within the 80 kilometer speed zone of the town of Forbes and Forbes Shire villages for judging purposes.
All are welcome to enter the scarecrow competition, this will be judged by popular vote on the open day.
Entrants in the vegetable competition will need to be home for the judges to visit on a pre-arranged date and time.
Entry forms can be collected from and returned to Forbes Shire Council, The Library and the Forbes Riverside Community Gardens.
Call into the Garden in Reymond St (site of the old forestry nursery) between 9am and 11am on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays or Saturdays.
